Session Outline

This session focuses on developing aggressive, committed weight transfer and maintaining balance through the shot. Through a combination of check and full swing drills, players learn to control their body movement, transfer energy effectively into the ball, and stay stable through contact — key components of a powerful and repeatable cover drive.

Activity 1

Activity 1: Underarms Drives Balance Holds

Duration: 5–10 minutes
Repetitions: 20–30 balls

Activity Overview:
This activity focuses on building a strong base and stable posture through the shot using underarm feeds from half-pitch distance. The batter works on driving the ball smoothly and then holding the finish for two to three seconds to reinforce balance, posture, and head position. The emphasis is on staying still after contact, feeling the weight transfer forward, and maintaining control through the shot.

Activity 2

Activity 2: Underarms Aggressive transfer

Duration: 10–15 minutes
Repetitions: 30–60 balls

Activity Overview:
This activity focuses on the batter preparing early and then moving their body aggressively through the ball. Using underarm feeds from half-pitch distance, the goal is to drive with intent — delaying movement until the right moment, then feeling the hands and body work together powerfully through contact. The emphasis is on creating strong forward momentum while maintaining balance and control after the shot.

Activity 3

Activity 3: Activity 3: Sidearms — Balance Holds

Duration: 10–15 minutes
Repetitions: 30–60 balls

Activity Overview:
This activity builds on the underarm version by introducing sidearm feeds from the full length of the pitch to replicate realistic pace and trajectory. The batter focuses on driving with rhythm and holding the finish for two to three seconds to reinforce balance, posture, and head position. The goal is to stay stable through contact, allowing the weight to transfer forward smoothly while maintaining strong control of the shot.

Activity 4

Activity 4: Sidearms — Aggressive Transfer

Duration: 10–20 minutes
Repetitions: 30–60 balls

Activity Overview:
This activity challenges the batter to move their body aggressively through the ball against sidearm feeds from the full length of the pitch. The focus is on delaying movement until the release, then driving forward with intent — letting the hands and body work together powerfully through contact. The emphasis is on creating strong forward momentum while keeping balance and body alignment through the finish.
