IN THIS LESSON
Training during the season is a critically important aspect of the process of performance. I believe that training during the season should be very closely connected to our performance on the weekend. I also believe that we should develop consistent routines and ways of training that are designed to help us to be successful.
When you complete the batting game plans program which will be added as part of this membership, we will spend a lot of time on helping you to develop your own specific training routine that you can trust and follow weekly. This short lesson simply explains the importance of in-season training and provides you with a document that can help you to plan out your week.
It’s all about skills
When we are working out what should be included in our weekly training plan, we need to consider the different skills that we need to execute on the weekend. My model of training is about identifying these skills and then making sure that we can execute them come game day. This means isolating each of the skills and spending specific time each week focusing on our key skills.
Below I have provided a list of the different skills that you might need to execute on the weekend. For each of you, they will be slightly different but this is a list that will get you thinking about the skills and feelings you might like to have. I think it is important to differentiate these skills based on the different formats and therefore the lists are grouped between limited overs and long format cricket.
